There was a long line when we went (Saturday morning so expected) but it was all worth it! I was trying to decide between the chard and mushroom empanadas. I asked what they recommended and they told me the mushroom so that's what I went with. I recommend eating it as soon as you get it because it tasted so good warm. The crispy exterior and gooey warm interior was amazing. The complex flavors of the mushrooms really came through -- you can tell they use the high quality ones from Far West. On a Saturday, you're unlikely to find good seating so you'll likely have to eat it standing up. I wish they had more locations to purchase their frozen versions from around the Bay Area.

For around seven dollars apiece, these empanadas are surprisingly filling. Sure, it's a bit higher than average, but the available options are all quite satisfying. My server greeted me with a warm smile and quick to-go service. The line passed by super quick. The two empanadas I ended up getting were piping hot (almost too hot) and toasty. With the melty cheese inside, this was a perfect treat for the chillier SF weather. Note that this shop is to-go only (and perfect as it is).

This is a quick service spot on my way to work. They sell empanadas and pastries from Argentina. It has a good display of the empanadas and pastries it sells and it has a rustic countryside design. I got a meat (carne) empanada, a ham and cheese (jamon y queso) empanada, and an alfajore cookie. The carne empanada was by far the best. It had a balance of meat, sweetness from the raisins, and saltiness from the olives. The jamon y queso was good but it had way too much cheese for my liking. I wish it had more ham and less cheese. The alfajore is a sandwich cookie between perfect dulce de leche (caramel) it had a great chewy texture from the caramel and a soft bite to the cookie. When I go again I will get a carne empanada as you only need one to fill you up. The alfajore was amazing but I will only get it on special occasions as I tend to avoid sweets.
